A T-ball program in Alberta is an introductory level of baseball designed for young children (typically ages 4-6) to learn the basics of the game in a fun, supportive environment.
Players hit the ball off a stationary tee instead of facing a pitcher, which helps build confidence and develop fundamental skills like batting, throwing, catching, and running bases. The focus is on participation, teamwork, and enjoyment rather than competition, and rules are simplified--games are usually non-competitive with no scores kept.
Programs are volunteer-run, with an emphasis on positive coaching, equal playtime, and helping kids develop a love for the game. Parents are often involved, and sessions are shorter and more flexible to suit young attention spans.
At Crossfield Minor Baseball, if we have the volunteer power, we try to organize games with other teams in the Chinook League later in the season to give kids a taste of the game!
